Surgical Hub – Cork University Hospital
Overview:
The Surgical Hub in Cork is an ongoing rapid-build project designed to support Cork University Hospital (CUH) in addressing regional surgical demands. This two-storey facility, with an additional plant room on Level 3, spans approximately 7,000 m² and is being constructed using modern methods to reduce on-site timelines. The hub is dedicated to performing high-volume, low-complexity day-case procedures, aiming to enhance surgical throughput and reduce patient waiting times.
Services Provided:
IMEP is responsible for full MEP model ownership, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems align with the project’s rapid-build strategy and meet healthcare standards. This includes engineering validation to confirm compliance with regulations, model coordination to integrate various disciplines, and advanced clash detection to resolve design conflicts.
Detailed installation drawings are prepared to streamline on-site assembly, while accurate as-built models are provided to document the final structure. IMEP also compiles comprehensive COBie information, delivering structured asset data to support long-term facility management and maintenance.
